Obituary

Rose Boerger, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2021, at the age of 94. She was born on May 17, 1926, in Cambridge (OH) to the late Albert and Hafefe (Gemayel) Buttress. She is a graduate of St Francis School of Nursing. She always took great pride in being a nurse, even long after her retirement. The three most important things in her life were her family, her faith and her friends. She was a devout Catholic and a long time member of Our Lady of Victory church in Marble Cliff. She was endlessly devoted to her siblings and her children. She loved animals and was always a little happier when there was a dog in the house. She was a huge fan of Ohio State football and men's basketball. Rose was petite of stature but had an outsized smile and left behind an enormous imprint on the lives of so many. Her smile especially was filled with such sweetness and light as her eyes would automatically sparkle. Rose was a full-time caregiver even when she wasn't working and carried more love in her heart than people twice her size. She always saw the best in others and was very generous with both her understanding and forgiveness. People were drawn to Rose, to her radiant goodness, and the friends she made throughout her life could have filled a stadium. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; her siblings, George, Naz, Mitch, Anise, Betty and Joe; and by her son, Michael. She is survived by her children, Lori (David) Humphrey, Andrew (Junko) and Christopher; her grandchildren, Jessica (Max) Maughen, Stephen and Mika; her great-grandchildren, Miles, George and Henry; and of course, Violetta, her beloved canine grandchild. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice and Comfort Keepers for providing loving and compassionate care. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 29 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 1559 Roxbury Road (Marble Cliff 43212), where the family will receive visitors one hour prior. Rev. Fr. Paul Noble, Presider; assisted by Deacon Rob Joseph. Burial, St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations in her name to the Our Lady of Victory - St. Vincent dePaul Society or the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted with the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com. Masks/facial coverings required for visitation/Mass.

I am so saddened to hear of your mom's death. She was such a wonderful, steadfast friend to my mother. One of the hard things about losing a parent, is also missing hearing about and seeing their friends. I really missed seeing your mom! My mom thought the world of her, and so did we. Your obituary is absolutely a wonderful tribute to your mom, and every word of it was evident to anyone who knew her. She was so strong, even in the face of the pain and suffering she went through. I wish I could come to the service, but am unable to, due to being literally quarantined right now. My Dad is in assisted living and is unable to be there as well. He is also so sorry he is unable to be able to pay his respects. I know the prayers of the whole Silcott family are with you all.
