Obituary

Victor C. Schreck passed away Friday, April 7, 2006, two days before his 87th birthday at Doctors West Hospital. He was born in Arnold, Kansas in 1919 to Henry and Ada Schreck. At the age of 14, after the death of his father, he began a lifelong career of farming. He also served in the Pacific theatre during World WarII where he met his future wife Margaret Trapp, who was also in the Army. They married in August 1947 and raised nine children with much love, laughter, and prayer. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life and were with him in his final hours. He will be remembered for his keen mind, quick wit, extraordinary work ethic, and devout Catholic faith. Preceding him in death are his parents, sister Mildred, brother John, and grandson Christopher. Surviving him are his wife Margaret, children Edward (Mary), Regina, Rene, Steve (Lisa), Ann (Mike Zettler), Alisa (Tim) Janz, Rosita, Rita (Mike) Dean and Greg, and grandchildren Doug and Jenny Schreck, Tom, Katie, and Megan Janz, Nikki and Ali Dean, Aidan and Quinn Schreck, and Katie and Conor Woodie. Also surviving are brothers Frank(Tillie) of Kansas and Fr. Joseph of Puerto Rico, sisters Mary Agnes of Missouri, Adalia (Edmond) Morin of Colorado, Sr. Margaret Schreck of Kansas, Uncle William Fonke, and many nieces and nephews. We didn't actually know Mr. Schreck, but Joe Maue (Sherry's Dad) was a friend and admirer or Victor, and his daughter Ann (whom we've met) still visits Joe at his care center. The Schrecks have treated Joe like family since he came to Columbus in 2001. We'd like for the family to know of our genuine appreciation for their hospitality towards Joe.
