Sam C. Karam, age 89, passed away on Tuesday June 8th 2004 in Hollywood, Florida. Formerly of Columbus where he retired as a chef, who worked at the Neil House Hotel and for 28 years at Ricardo's Restaurant and finally at his own restaurant Papa Sam's. Sam proudly served in the US Army during World War ll, where he was part of the 34th "Red Bull" Infantry Division and received 7 Purple Heart Medals. The "Red Bull" Division fought more combat days than any other division in either theaters of war. Sam was also a member of the Purple Heart Association, Societa Fratelanza d'Introdacqua and the American-Italian Golf Association. He is preceded in death by his parents Elias & Tarooze, sisters Maheb,Virginia and Marcia, brothers-in-law Clarence & Peter, son-in-law Diodoro and loving wife of 57 years Theresa H. Karam(Susey). He is survived by children Barbara Costantini of Ontario, Canada, Edmond Karam of Houston, TX and Terry(Isaac)Kahla of Hollywood, FL, many grandchildren & great grandchildren, sisters Anne Karam, Jenny Elias, Lateefy Pharo, Florence Baker, brother Joseph(Louise)Karam and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends may call Sunday, June 13th 2004 at the John Quint & Sons Funeral Home 1177 West Fifth Avenue from 3:00-8:00 PM with the SFI service at 7:15 PM and Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM on Monday June 14th 2004 at St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, 720 Hamlet Street, Msgr. William J. Maroon, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in Sam's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
