Obituary
Roger Christopher Gentile died suddenly at the age of 43. A Graduate of Grandview High School, and a long time wine merchant having worked at Gentile’s The Wine Sellers, Whole Foods, Solera Imports, Jay’s Tavern in Dayton, and Vittorio’s Restaurant. He traveled extensively to Spain, France, and most of California’s wine regions where he developed a number of life-long friends Among those who loved and will miss him are his mother Bernice Gentile (Bob White), father Roger Louis Gentile (Laura Joseph), his brother Brian (Mia) and beloved nephew Roman, his godmother and dining partner Susan Gentile, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. A gathering will be held at John Quint Treboni Funeral Home on Thursday, June 21, from 6:00 until 8:00 with a short Memorial Service to follow. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com

Beanie, I never read the Obits, but had 15 minutes tonight, and just happened to catch them. I am so sorry I read them after the services; I would have loved to attend. I a, so sad to learn of your son's death, he was obviously way to young to die and it has to be a terrible blow, my heart goes out to you. I cannot even imagine your pain. You have my deepest sympathy, and I pray that with time, your wonderful memories will supplant the pain you are feeling now, and you will be able to remember Roger with fondness and laughter, instead of the horrible pain you are feeling now. Roger always had a smile for me when we worked together at Whole Foods Market. He was able to direct me to a budget-friendly red with a snap of a finger and never blinked an eye when I asked, "what's a good bottle for less than $15?" May he rest in peace. My prayers are with all of you.

I had just sent Beannie an e-mail and googled her and found this site. I cannot tell you how sorry I am to hear about Roger's passing. Last time I corresponded with him was late last year and he mentioned remembing visiting with us in Waverly. So long ago! Talya is out of the country but I'll let her know when I talk to her. Roger was such a sweet man and I know he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

I haven't seen Roger in too many years but always remembered him fondly from our days at Busch Blvd. Gentiles. Nor will I forget the 'great bike ride' with him, Ken and Todd; we were dying, Roger was R. Lee Erney! I hope the rest of his life was as much fun!
