Obituary
Rino John Della Flora, age 71, took his last swing at a brain tumor and went on to the Country Club of Heaven, Friday, May 16 2008. Rino started his golf career as a caddie at The OSU Golf Course at age 12 and later became the Assistant Golf Pro. While attending St. Thomas Aquinas High School, he was on the golf team and made his first "Hole in One" at age 17. He later went on to become the Head Golf Pro at the Riviera Country Club and Hickory Hills Country Club. Rino spent several years at Pal Joey's in Newark, where he re-defined teaching the great game of golf. It gave him great pleasure to share his knowledge with others. Anyone who was taught by him would tell you "he changed my swing". All of his students and co-workers looked up to Rino and respected his criticism for which he took to heart. He loved the game and would be proud to see the improvements of his students. He would let them swing then say "now let me show you the right way". Rino always knew best. He ended his career by being inducted into the PGA Hall of Fame. He is preceded in death by father Herman Della Flora. Survived by mother, Emily Della Flora, son John Della Flora, daughter Lisa(Steve)Lynch, grandson's Angelo Della Flora, Chad Lynch, Brent Lynch, devoted caregiver and sister Rita(Charlie)Dietrich, dear friend Ocky Rossetti, his guardian angel Jeanne Singleton, special caregiver Judy Della Flora, aunt Ida Jaconette, dearest friends Mike Salimony and Ron Vinetti also part of the Rat Pack Golfers Club, Ralph F. Scarpetti and Nick S. Fransico, special nephews Rick(Heidi)and Marc(Anita)Melchiorre and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call SUNDAY, May 18th 2008 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 2:00-8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral Service will be held 10:30 AM on MONDAY, May 19th 2008 at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel (within the St. Joseph Cemetery) 6440 S. High Street, Lockboune, Ohio, Rev. Fr. Kevin Lutz, Presider. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Rino to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Dearest Emily, Rita and Rino's children: I am so sorry to hear of Rino's passing. I have so many good memories of Kenmore Road, Rita and Rino. We lived on Pegwood for 15 years and my children grew up knowing him. He was such a wonderful person and it was a pleasure for all of us to know him. He kept his yard so perfect and we never saw him with a hair out of place. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and find peace in knowing he is in a better place now.
