Philip J. Vilardo, age 86, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital with his family at his side. Born Dec. 30, 1922 in Columbus, he grew up in Grandview, and lived most of his life in Upper Arlington. He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, Pacific Theater. Following the war, Phil was a builder and developer for over 50 years. It is a family business, and he watched proudly as his children joined him to carry on the tradition. He is a long time member of St. Agatha Catholic Church, a past member of the St. Agatha Men's Club and the Greater Columbus Home Builders Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Venera Vilardo, brother Samuel, son Frank, and nephew Samuel Jr. Phil is survived by Helen, his wife of 57 years; daughters Mary Jo Vilardo and Linda (Geoff) Bevan; son Phil (Michele); brother Danny Vilardo; grandchildren Jen and Joe Bevan and Philip and Patrick Vilardo; sister-in-law Charlotte Vilardo; niece Susan (John) Tehan; and nephew Steve Vilardo, and many additional relatives and friends. Friends may call WEDNESDAY, April 22, 2009 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 6:00-8:00 PM followed by a Prayer Service at 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM on THURSDAY, April 23, 2009 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1860 Northam Road, Rev. Fr. Daniel L. Ochs, Celebrant. FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio.
