Obituary
Nelly A. (Ricci) Salimbene, born in Columbus, Ohio, October 12, 1919, died peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2013. Preceded in death by her parents, Tullio and Mary Ricci; brothers, John, Joseph and Rudy Ricci; sister, Christina (Ricci) Howe; brother-in-law, John R. Howe; son-in-law, Dr. Michael Curran; and beloved husband, Col. Rocco C. Salimbene. Survived by her sons, John (Allana) Salimbene and James (Elizabeth) Salimbene; daughter, Ann Salimbene; grandsons, Capt. Nicholas (Karlie) Salimbene and Michael Salimbene; granddaughters, Andrea (Ben Franz) Salimbene, Jessica (fiance, David Russo) Salimbene and Mary Elizabeth Salimbene; sister, Rita LaBelle; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ricci; brother-in-law, Col. Frank (Patricia) Salimbene and numerous nieces and nephews. Nelly was a member of the Piave Club Auxiliary, St. Ann's Guilds, Phi Beta Sigma Sorority and a charter member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. She was an active and supportive member in each of these groups. In addition she supported numerous charities and was well known for her generosity. Nelly was a woman of deep faith and as a wife, mother, and friend, she was a wonderful example to all who knew her. She will be terribly missed. Family will receive friends Monday, November 25, 2013 from 3-7 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Avenue, Columbus, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1088 Thomas Lane, Columbus. Family and friends are requested to meet at the church. Burial, St. Joseph Cemetery. Two of Nelly's favorite causes were support of military veterans and of food banks. Contributions in Nelly's memory may be made to Mid-Ohio Food Bank, P.O. Box 182883, Columbus, OH 43218 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
