Obituary

Monte T. Curry passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2025. Monte is survived by his mother, JoAnn Curry; sisters, Roni (Phil) Rowe and Kelly Volpe; brother, Mike (Carol) Curry; nieces, Nicole (Ryan) Kitzul, Mackenzie Curry, Carley and Cassidy Rowe; aunts and uncles, Beverly Farrell, Chet DeMary, Tim and Debra Curry, Roger and Deb Wilson; cousins, Pia Farrell, Rachel and Adam Curry, Jessica Rutherford and Hedi Rime. Monte was predeceased by his father, Ronald Curry; niece, Abigail Volpe and cousin, Kerry Farrell. Monte also has some amazing friends that have stuck with him over the years, sadly their friend group has lost some good ones recently. Monte graduated from Grandview Heights High School in 1981 and worked in various occupations over the years in California and Arizona before making his way back to Ohio. Most recently he was a salesman for Byers Subaru in Dublin. Monte had a kind soul and could be quite charming with the people that he loved. He had an infectious smile and a love for things he cared deeply about. He once facilitated getting a Subaru donated to a family at Ronald McDonald House when they were in need. It all stemmed from his heartfelt love for Donate Life after his niece Abigail was a donor years ago. Monte was also a devout Todd Rundgren fan and literally followed him around the country to concerts with Greg Tweed and others. He saw uses in all things from the clearance rack in a store to things being discarded by others - if you know, you know! He acquired a love for shooting guns from his dad, brother and friends. He also loved to ride motorcycles before an accident in 1986 that altered his life. Although he struggled at times, he persevered over the years. It wasn't always easy especially starting in July of 2024 when some amazing doctors from OSU attempted to perform one last surgery to save his limb. After 7 months of numerous follow up surgeries he had to have his leg amputated. He was just getting the hang of using his prosthesis and preparing to move to a new apartment when he passed away. A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 2-4 pm at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home 1177 W. 5th Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43212. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Monte's honor to: Lifeline of Ohio, 770 Kinnear Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43212 (https://lifelineofohio.org/get-involved/contribute/) - Link at www.johnquint.com. Please consider registering as an organ donor if you haven't already!

It’s been a really tough year for the gang of people that I used to spend a lot of time with during and shortly after high school. Stormy, Brian, Mike and now Monte. Monte did have an infectious smile and I don’t think in all the years I’ve known him I ever saw him get mad. Even with all that it happened to him since the motorcycle accident, I never saw him with a low spirit. I hadn’t seen Monte in a long time until I ran into him at Stormy‘s funeral and then Gordon’s. I’m sorry I didn’t get to spend more time with him after seeing him then. Our deepest condolences to the family and all of his close friends.

I have fond memories of working with Monte at Hatfield Subaru and attending a great Todd Rundgren concert with Monte and Greg Tweed. Blessing to Monte’s family at this time of sadness and in celebrating his life.

I was lucky enough to work with Monte for many years. He was a
Great Technician and My Dear Friend.

He had such a bright mind and solved problems in his own unique way. He was a big part of our service department team and took care of our customers along the coast here in Southern California and in the deserts of Arizona for many years. Our customers and his co-workers loved him.
I loved him and already miss him dearly...

Monte had a way about him and a sence of humor that endeared him to our entire family. He was such a smart, quick witted, sweetheart of a guy!

Heaven just got a Great Dude.

Adios my Friend, Anchor Where the Ocean Ends....

I wish you His Everlasting Peace, Monte-Man.

I'll see ya on the other side buddy.

I was sad to hear of Monte's passing. As we Bobcats grow older, this is becoming all too frequent. In the early 2000's, Monte used his jewelry skills to restore an old ring that I had belonging to my grandmother. Everything that I see written in these notes is absolutely true. He always had an awesome attitude & a smile that lit up a room. God rest his soul. My prayers are with his family & friends as they navigate life without him.

I met Monte by chance at Byers Subaru years ago. He was a great person, and we instantly hit it off and talked about common interests. We stayed in touch and I bought every car from him from then on and sent anyone I knew his way because he was such a genuinely good guy and fair salesman. I will miss his smile, humor, and quick wit! my deepest condolences and God Bless you all

Blessed I crossed paths with Monte! We quickly became dear friends. Truly one of the best people I’ve come across. We was just hanging out at my shop couple weeks ago and things was looking up from his long tough recent hospital bout. My family and I miss him deeply already. Monte was always so thoughtful. He would buy my granddaughter art supply gifts from Amazon and have them sent to my house. She always lit up and started making him pictures so I could text him. Just one of the many thankless things he did for people. Many condolences to the family. I hope him and Greg Tweed are in peace and catching up on good times.
