When I am confronted with writing about someone, the words can be elusive.
In the case of Mary Lopresti, my words came swiftly. I met Mary just a few
short months ago. The first impression she made upon me was her smile and
friendly countenance. Mary befriended everyone.
The last time I had the privilege of speaking to Mary was when she rolled into
my Mother’s room. Mary noticed a bag of Bar-b-que Doritos and reached over
to pick them up. I asked if she would like me to open the bag, she said, ȁCYes.ȁD
The three of us sat their and enjoyed eating and visiting. What a simple thing
to do, but yet it allowed us to share some thoughts. I am thankful I was there to
share.
Too many times we are busy beyond noticing the important things in life. What
I discovered about Mary, I learned from watching her family. The family supported
Mary with their visits and accompanied her to the music specials. The family also
noticed and took the time to reach out to other residents. I know these actions were
modeled for the family through Mary’s own actions.
The challenges placed before us can be daunting. Understanding that love is both words and actions is hard to learn. The support given by others is needed to weather the storms
we face when loved ones are involved. Today I am thankful that I had the privilege of
witnessing the life of Mary Lopresti and her family.

I had the honor of living next door to Mary and Sam for 25 years. Mary was a good neighbor and friend. In fact she was like a second mother to me. She treated my family like her family and her family treated me like family as well. We spent many hours together, we traveled together and had dinner together and went shopping together. I loved Mary very much and will miss her smile, her zest for life and the love she always showed me and my family. She was always there for me and I will never forget her! I know God has a very special place for her in heaven! She had a great life, she loved God, her family and friends more than people will ever know. She was kind and good hearted! She was feisty but we all loved her! May she rest in peace!
