Obituary

Mary Frances Daniel, 81, passed away Saturday, April 8 peacefully surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter. Born June 9, 1924 in Aliquippa, PA, graduated from Mt. Gallitzin Academy in Baden, PA, she pursued her dream of becoming a nurse at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where she met the love of her life, Luke. Upon graduation, they married and moved to Dallas, TX. Luke’s career took them to exotic Rio de Janero, Brazil where they lived for 2 years, then to Chicago, and Columbus, settling in Upper Arlington in 1954. Mary Frances is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Francis Luke, loving children, Marie (Stephen) Blubaugh of Naperville, IL, Margaret Ferrin (Michael) of Wellington FL, Joan (Michael) Dury, Annette Daniel, Christine (Jack) Kane, and Joseph (Chris Hansen) all of Upper Arlington and Catherine (Bert)Vonderahe of Blacklick. Grandchildren Janet, Daniel, and Curtis Blubaugh, Ann Dury (Paul) Fiorilli, Meg and Tom Dury, Jay and Jenna Ferrin, Henry, Charles, and William Vonderahe, LT. Colin Kane USN, Nicole Kane (Doug) Takas, and great granddaughter, Sarah Jean Takas. She is also survived by sister, Jean (Lou) Tovey and brother, Richard (Beverly) Darroch of Aliquippa, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents James A. and Frances B. Darroch, brothers James, Thomas, and Leo Darroch and sisters, Mildred Cecconi and Kathleen Salvati, and grandson, Frank Dury. Mary Frances Daniel leaves a legacy of love to her family, a deep devotion to her Catholic Faith, and an example of tireless service to others. As a member of Our Lady of Victory Altar and Rosary Society, Birthright of Columbus, St. Agatha Women’s Club, Columbus Right to Life Society and the OSU Mother’s Club, Group S, she lent her considerable talents and leadership skills in countless hours of lifelong service to her church, to infants, children, and the elderly. There was no better nurse, baker, seamstress, gardener, cook, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, or friend than Mary Frances. May the angels welcome her and eternal rest be hers. Family will receive friends at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W. 5th Avenue from 3:30-7:30 pm on WEDNESDAY, April 12th with a prayer service at 6:30. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, 10:00 at St. Agatha Church, 1860 Northam Road, Upper Arlington. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Christ Child Society of Columbus, P.O. Box 340091, Columbus, OH 43234 in support of charitable works for infants and children.
