Laura L. Arnold, 50 of Columbus, died September 11, 2005 at the OSU Ross hospital. She was born May 6, 1955 in Brooklyn NY to the late Edward and Helen Sorensen. She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Tim, sister Karen and numerous cousins. She is also survived by her kitties Hannah, Levi, Mary Grace and Daniel. Laura graduated with a BA in art history from Marshall University, Huntington WV. She was a dancer and seamstress for the Pittsburgh Ballet, had worked as a pre-school teacher, nurse’s aid, dental assistant and dance instructor. A resident of Upper Arlington since 1987, Laura was active in church and community, doing God’s work with the poor and underserved. Her work of sharing God’s graces was her gift to us all. Laura loved her family, enjoyed sewing, cooking and sharing her life experiences with others. Tradition was very important in her life. A new chapter in her spiritual growth occurred when she became an Associate of the Sisters of Mercy in 2003. With the life work of Catherine McAuley as her guide, she was able to fill the void left by the passing of her Pilot dog, Faith, growing in spirituality through active ministry and prayerful reflection. Those who knew Laura or knew her through her husband Tim, know that she never let things stand in her way, was a fighter overcoming so many physical impairments, never letting her condition stand in her way of enjoying life to the fullest. Her many caregivers in the medical community will mourn her loss as she was an inspiration to their life work. Laura enriched us all by her mere presence. She touched us all and changed so many lives. Her melodic voice and cheerfulness was remembered by so many when they first met her. Always quick with a kind word or cheerful reflection, we will always have her in our hearts and minds. Her memory should inspire all of us to be more loving toward each other. Her example should be a testament that with God all things are possible. The family has too many to thank for sharing this life drama. A special mention needs to be made to the doctors, nurses and staff at Ross hospital, 2nd floor. You helped us make her passing painless and peaceful. Her husband Tim and dear friend Sue Hamilton were at her side during this time. Thousands of Mercy Sisters' and Associates, family and friends were also with her in spirit.
