Dear Corkey,

I was deeply saddened by the news of Larry's passing. Please accept my condolences , and that of my entire family.
I know that words are of little comfort at a time like this, and that your sense of loss must be great. Still, I truly believe that Larry has gone to a far better place, and that he is at peace.
Larry was a kind and decent man, and he possessed a quiet dignity that he merged seamlessly with a wonderful sense of humor. He served his God, his Family, his Friends, and his Nation with grace, integrity, and wisdom. In short, he did it right, and he will be missed.
Though the years took us on different courses, we were able to reunite via email over the past two years or so, and it was as if we'd been in constant touch the entire time. Curiously, more than 50 years melted away, and we enjoyed some good laughs. Memories of dude ranches in Colorado, train rides from Albuquerque, tomfoolery in your apartment at Linkshire on Victory Parkway, card games in the dorm, or swimming in the pool at the Stouffer's on Olentangy all served to cement a friendship that began when we were literally just little children, and continued to today.
While we are all diminished by his loss, I know that my life was enriched for having known him.
When my mother passed away, many years ago, one of my law partners reminded me to celebrate the life that was, rather than mourn the loss that you’ve suffered. As hollow as such words sound right now, I found, after a time, that there was wisdom in his advice.
I truly wish I could be there, but my efforts to reshuffle my trial schedule were unsuccessful. Please know that you will all be in my thoughts.
I think that Heaven is a brighter place now, for Larry has come home, and I just know that he, and Lawrence, and Lena, and Pasquale are sitting around laughing, just like the old days on Glenn. He, and all your family, will be in my prayers tonight.

God Bless,

John

Corkey, you may or may not remember me and my brother Denny but we went to OLV grade school with your brother and played football and other sports with him. Over the years Larry would run into one or the other of us and would keep us up to date on you, your mom, and your grand father. It is clear that Larry loved his family very deeply and I am sure your losing him is very difficult for you. I still live in Columbus and Denny lives in Chantilly, VA. but we will both keep you and Larry in our prayers.

I think my brother Dave may have also been in your class or a year behind you. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you at this time.
