Obituary
If you knew Keaton, you knew two things: he loved his family, and he was always looking out for someone else. Being a protector wasn't something he learned, it was simply who he was. With hearts forever changed, we share the unexpected passing of Keaton Joshua Renick, age 22. While his time with us was far too short, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the example he set will remain with us forever. Some people spend their lives searching for where they belong. Keaton never had to. He found home in his family, purpose in serving his country, and joy in protecting the people he loved. Keaton never needed grand gestures to show people he cared. Love looked like stopping at Costco to bring Grandpa Walter a hot dog because he knew it would make him smile. It looked like surprising Nan with her favorite treats, never missing Taco Tuesday with Uncle CJ or showing off his driving skills that he taught him, dreaming of time spent on the family farm, and making sure his brothers always knew someone had their backs. His brothers, Parker Iacoboni Renick and Finnegan Seabolt, were among his greatest joys. He also shared a special bond with Liam and Kiera Seabolt. One of Carrie's favorite things to say about her son was that he loved having family. Whether someone was a sibling, grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, or lifelong friend, if they were family, they mattered to Keaton. He loved being outdoors, collecting Hot Wheels, the movie Drive, and had what his family affectionately called a "need for speed." And then there was Tony. Tony wasn't just Keaton's cat, she was his buddy. He spoiled her shamelessly, talked about her often, and loved her so much that he once tried to make her his beneficiary. If you knew Keaton, that story probably makes perfect sense. To Keaton, family wasn't defined only by blood. If he loved you, you belonged. It isn't surprising that someone who spent his life protecting the people he loved found his calling in military service. Keaton proudly served with the 180th Fighter Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard, where he found another family. His fellow Airmen became his brothers and sisters, and serving alongside them was one of the greatest honors of his life. While many count the days until they can come home, Keaton was counting the days until he could deploy. He couldn't wait to serve beside the people he loved, doing what he believed he was called to do. He never wanted recognition for wearing the uniform. In fact, if someone thanked him for his service, he'd often brush it aside. To Keaton, serving wasn't about praise. It was simply his privilege. When Keaton became an Airman, his mom proudly wrote- "If you think having a toddler is tough, wait until they tell you they joined the Air Force. He was one of my toughest battles, and we always taught him to stand up for himself. Now he stands up for our entire country, and we couldn't be more proud." Those words forever captured the pride she felt watching her son become the man he was always meant to be. Keaton is survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Carrie and Jeremy Seabolt; his father, Joshua Renick; his beloved brothers, Parker Iacoboni Renick, Finnegan Seabolt, Liam Seabolt; and only sister, Kiera Seabolt; his grandparents, Karen Davis Threlfall and Dr. Walter Threlfall, Deborah and Greg Seabolt, and John and Susan Renick; favorite Uncle, Christopher; Uncle Jason (Andrea), Dominic, and Noah Iacoboni; Great-Uncle Lou (Mark, Marty) Nobile; along with many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, his brothers and sisters of the 180th Fighter Wing, countless dear friends, and his faithful companion, Tony. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Thomas Everly Davis and Christopher Francis Iacoboni; his grandmother, Kathryn Renick; and his Great-Aunt, Joyce Nobile. There is comfort in believing that Keaton has now been reunited with those who went before him, especially his Grandpa Tom- a fellow veteran whom he admired so deeply. We like to imagine them together once again watching over the family they both loved so fiercely. Although 22 years will never feel like enough, Keaton filled those years with courage, loyalty, humility, laughter, and quiet acts of love that will never be forgotten. His legacy will not be measured by the years he lived, but by the people he protected, the family he treasured, and the country he proudly served. The people who loved Keaton spent 22 years feeling protected by him. Now they find comfort believing that, while they can no longer see him, they are still surrounded by the love, courage, and quiet strength that defined his life. He was our protector. He was our Airman. He will always be our Keaton. The family is deeply honored that the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Daniel Dury, whose priestly ministry and spiritual guidance were a cherished blessing in Keaton's life. His presence at this final celebration of the Holy Mass is a fitting tribute to the faith they shared and the lasting bond they held in Christ. Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 12 noon at the Mother of Sorrows Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery 6440 S. High St. Lockbourne, Ohio 43137. A Military Honors will immediately follow the Mass at the Gravesite.

I knew Keaton since the pandemic started. Perhaps even before. He had jokes, for sure, but he was also an overflowing cup of empathy and always went out of his way to make sure his friends were having a good time. I am going to miss him, as will many others.

Genuinely one of the kindest and funniest people I've met online. I'm so touched to see now how many connections he made in person, and the kind of impact he left in this world. I knew him as an unbelievably caring figure with his friends, seeing just how far it extended into his world and his family brings me so much peace. What a heart of gold, I'm going to miss seeing his funny messages and sharing time with him so, so much. When we finally got the chance to see each other at a show we were going to, he came and had made me this insanely cool cuff bracelet out of denim and a cut up Monster can as a graphic. It hurt like hell to wear from all the metal, but it was such a creative thing to do, and I feel like that was probably part of the bit, knowing his sense of humor. Thanks for all the laughs and joy, I'm gonna miss you so much man.

I knew Keaton for 4 years, and in those 4 years he always found new ways to make us, his friends, laugh. He always had unique things to say, and had a great sense of loyalty. I got to know Keaton through BSC
He was an excellent young man and employee who was always positive. We had many good conversations about a variety of topics, but my favorite was about Clint Eastwood and the old Spaghetti Westerns. He even dressed the part with a hat and poncho during the league at BSC. You will deeply missed.

There are some people in this world who make others feel safe just by being there, and that was you. We know Keaton through social events we’d frequent. It’s truly an honor to get to know Keaton and be so close instantly.
