Obituary

JUDITH BONAVENTURA. In the pre-dawn hours of Monday, January 28, 2008 this world sadly, but hopefully said goodbye to one of it's most brightly lit stars. Judith Bonaventura was born on August 18, 1919 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Antonio and Carmela Quaranto. "Grandma" Judy's life was defined by the delight she created in those around her. She befriended many and was the vehicle of many smiles as she warmed and satiated hearts. Cooking and story-telling were her delights. Her love and devotion to her family and friends were her passions. She had been married 60 years to her beloved Louie, who preceded her in death. They had three children, daughter Anita Koebel (spouse of Dan Koebel) and grandchildren Bobby Tittel (spouse Julie), Mike Tittel (spouse Beth), Laura Tittel, Tom Tittel and Judith Hayes, their son Anthony Bonaventura (spouse of Nell Bonaventura) and grandchildren Maria Bonaventura (spouse Trey McBane), Terri Johns (spouse Courtney), Tony Bonaventura (spouse Michelle) and Joe Bonaventura (spouse Audra), Claire Plante (spouse Josh), Lewis Chapman (spouse Brenda) daughter Carmie Smith (spouse of Ken Smith) and grandchildren Kendra, Kenny, Koel and Kaela Smith and her daughter-in-law Mary Ann Wesney along with 16 wonderful great-grandchildren (Tittlels, Johns, Bonaventuras and McBanes). Judy is survived by her sisters Lillian Penzone and Antoinette Carfagna and her brother and his wife Bruno and Mary Quaranto and her sister-in-law Lena Martin and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her many dear friends, in particular, Christina Hard, Robin Taylor and Cindy Powers. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter & Paul Mission Guild. Friends may call WEDNESDAY, January 30, 2008 or THURSDAY, January 31, 2008 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 4:00-8:00 PM both days. Prayer Service 7:45 PM Thursday. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 on FRIDAY, February 1, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 720 Hamlet St., Rev. Fr. William Metzger, Presider and Con-celebrants Msgr. John Cody and Rev. Fr. Kevin Lutz. PROCESSION WILL FORM AT CHURCH. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Feeding and helping people were the cornerstones of Grandma Judy's existence. Her favorite saying was, "Everyday is a Blessing". In respect and recognition of her philosophies, in lieu of flowers, we are asking those who attend the viewing to bring a donation of canned goods or boxed goods to the funeral home and place them in the Mid-Ohio Food Bank Containers. For those who are unable to attend the viewing but wish to participate in memory of Grandma Judy please send a check to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank at 1625 W. Mound St., Columbus, Ohio 43223 or the Holy Family Soup Kitchen at 584 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com

Dear Cousins,
It is with a heavy heart that I send you our thoughts and prayers. Your mom and grandma was the kindest, most loving person who always had that unique smile. I have so many memories of our visits to your parents' home when we were young and hearing your mom giggle saying "oh Louie, you're so funny." Thank you for sharing her throughout these years.
I'll see you on Friday at the funeral.
With love,
Cea, Dave, Travis and Ryan

My thoughts and prayers are with you today and through the days ahead. Judy will be missed, but the life lessons she shared with you and all she touched will be with us forever. I shall smile often when I think of her smiling eyes and the joy on her face whenever she talked about each and everyone of you and of course, when I think of or make her "fried chicken". She shared so much love, kindness, and wisdom with so many.

With much love and sympathy,

Diane

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. We (Harold & Theo Snyder) have just learned thru a family friend in Ohio that Judy passed away last week. She was a very special person to our family and even though we had lost touch she will always be in our hearts. Aunt Judy & Uncle Louie as I called them were my Godparents. I have such special memories of the both of them from when I was younger, as do my parents.

God Bless,

I am so saddened to hear about the passing of your mother. What a wonderful and vibrate woman. Living next door I can remember walking in and Judy usually cooking something good and new to me. I felt half Italian growing up! Judy and Louie always making me feel like one of the family going to relatives with Carmie. She was so kind and loving. God Bless all. You are in my prayers and thoughts.
