Obituary

Jeanne Adair Sternaman Rhodes passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Dublin Methodist Hospital. She was born on March 26, 1918 and had just celebrated her 90th birthday. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Jeanne was born in Bangor Township, Michigan, and moved several times throughout her life which left her with valued friends all over the country. She was an amazing woman who truly lived life by the golden rule and always put others before herself. Jeanne had a wry sense of humor and would easily break into laughter. One of her many achievements was establishing the foundation for Joe's Famous Pizza in Purcell, Oklahoma. She made a great pie!!! Her greatest legacy is the love she leaves behind. Jeanne is preceded in death by parents Nellie (Dougherty) and Rollo Sternaman, siblings Toni, Shirley and Rollo, Jr. She is survived by children Bettye Kemp (George Kunkle), Ray F. Rhodes (Beverly Oberg), Robert Rhodes (Carol); grandchildren Angel Rhodes(JD Kaplan), Mandy Gravatt (Dale), Chris Rhodes (Marla), Suzanne Grube (Bill), Trey Kemp (Amy); great-grandchildren Savannah, Samuel, Jackson, Ariana, Nicole, and Cameron; nephew Gary Hawkins(Sue), nieces Shirlyn Hawkins, Elizabeth Sternaman and great-nephews Geoff, Ryan, and Matthew. Dear Angel and family. Although we never met your grandmother, we certainly mourn in the loss of any family member. Your references to her life and memories that you have shared, certainly magnify the love and admiration you had for her. Our condolences to you and your family.

Angel and all - Our hearts go out to you in the loss of Grandma Rhodes. She was such a warm, kind, spirited woman who was so much fun to be with. Although we only had the privilege of knowing her for a few years, she was such a joy. That twinkle in her eyes when she was being mischevious was priceless. Even as she aged her sense of humor came through in so many unexpected ways.

Many thanks to you for allowing us to share time together with her. We always looked forward to seeing her. She enriched our lives with her love of life. She will be sorely missed.

You're in our hearts and prayers, and we're sending hugs you're way.

Love Judi and Bob

Ray,
I am sorry to hear of Jeanne's passing. So many memories of my childhood revolve around the times when your mother was around and making everybody happy. She truly cared for others, especially the young people that were always around. You are right: she really knew how to make a great pizza pie! I will never forget the good times we had at the pizza place. You and Bettye and the family are in my thoughts.

I was saddened to hear of Jeanne's passing but happy to say that I knew her. I spent many hours at her house during my youth and will never forget her smile, laughter and her generosity. She loved the young people in our small town and would always listen to their problems without judgement. Jeanne was a special person and my friend. Eddie
