Obituary

Janet Ann (Kreis) Silcott, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on October 16, 2015. She was born on March 18,1932, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Margaret and Howard Kreis. She is also preceded in death by in-laws Thomas Braden Sr., and M. Virginia Silcott, Bill Kirkpatrick, Neil Cashen, Janice Silcott and beloved son-in-law, Rich Mayo. Janet is survived by her most loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Thomas Braden Silcott, Jr.; children, Cynthia Mayo, Jim Silcott, Suzanne (Randy) Ritter, Julie (Ray) Bogusz, Timothy Silcott, Linda (Brad) Taylor and Bernie Scanlon; grandchildren, Timothy Mayo, Lauren (Michael Doherty), Jason (Claire) Bogusz, Jennifer Mayo (Mark Skopin), Bethany (Brad) Acker, Thomas Braden (Christine) Silcott, Steven Bogusz, Christopher Mayo, Natalie Ritter, Laura Taylor, Thomas Ritter and Shannon Taylor; great-grandchildren, Daniel Brady Doherty, Emmeline Bogusz, June Bogusz, Caroline Acker, Luke Doherty; sisters, Mary Jean Cashen, Carol (Bill) Allen; in-laws Edward and Linda Silcott, Ted and Libby Lewandowski; many beloved nephews and nieces. Janet graduated from Mt. Saint Agnes High School (Mt. Washington, MD) and was a proud 1993 graduate of The Ohio State University (B.A. English) at the age of 61. She was a long-term volunteer at the Dahlberg Learning Center, the Teens Encounter Christ Retreat Program, Ronald McDonald House and at Our Lady of Victory Parish where she and Tom have been faithful members since 1968. She was also a huge support to Tom at Deibels Restaurant for many years. She was a loyal friend and knew no strangers. Special thanks from the family to all her devoted friends, to the staffs at the Intensive Care Unit at Riverside Hospital and Mill Run, to Ohio Health Hospice Services, and to Kathleen Carmody and Alexis Little from Senior Matters for their wonderful care during her final illness. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue (with a Prayer Service at 7:45 p.m.). Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 1559 Roxbury Road (Marble Cliff) with the Rev. Msgr. Romano Ciotola as the Presider. Burial to follow, St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne. Donations in Janet's memory may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at Our Lady of Victory Church. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Janet. I worked with her in the pulmonary rehab program at MHHC. She was such a sweet and smart lady. She would constantly talk (and brag) about her wonderful family. It was very apparent that her family meant everything to her. She will be greatly missed. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
