Obituary

Gilda M. Spinosi, age 87, left us on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Mom entered eternal life on the anniversary of her mother Cecilia's passing and on the birthday of her youngest daughter, who was named in her mother's honor. She was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church and will be sadly missed by her many friends in the congregation. She is preceded in death by her parents Ermengildo and Cecilia Palermini, husband Dan Spinosi, Sr., son Steven A. Spinosi, brothers Angelo, Marino(Dolores), Gino(Ethel), Dominic(Theresa) and sister Conzilia(Lawrence) Mazzola. Gilda and Dan are survived by children Phil(Carol) of Westerville, Richard of Cleveland, OH, Maryann(Allan) Fischenberg of Phoenix, AZ, Dan, Jr.(Joyce) of Marion, OH, and Cecilia(James)Paulsen of Memphis, TN. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins, and her many dear friends and neighbors especially Jim Byrd, with whom she shared many over the fence conversations and who was always, without reservation, there to give mom as much assistance as humanly possible whenever it was needed. A true friend, we thank you immensely. Mom will be surely remembered for her special interest in genealogy as she diligently traced her family history back to Italy, locating family members and making friends on her trips there. Both the Guglielmi and Spinosi families were very grateful for all her efforts and untiring perseverance in researching and developing a family tree and presenting one to each of them. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends in Italy also. A special thanks to Phyllis Evans and Joanne Paesano and all those who so generously gave of their time to stay in constant contact with Mom, keeping her spirits up and her faith strong. Friends may call MONDAY, April 21st 2008 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 4:00-8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 4:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM on TUESDAY, April 22nd 2008 at St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, 720 Hamlet Street, Rev. Fr. William A. Metzger, Presider. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.

I am sad to hear of Gilda's passing and fondly remember her from time long ago. I remember her working at North High School in the cafeteria and how she would make me smile. Gilda was a great lady and had much compassion for people. I went to visit her home about 2 years ago; everything was the same. Gilda was always there for me and I will always love her. Condolences to the family and her friends.

How sad it makes me to think of Gilda's passing. I worked with her for many years at Dominion Middle School. We shared a common bond because of our Italian heritage. Every Christmas, without fail, Gilda made me pizzelles, even though she knew I made my own. When that tin opened up, the anise smell would be so strong and good. I loved hers, and started using her recipe instead three years ago. I will miss her cards, our talks, and the friendship we shared over the years. I just lost my own Mom, and I'd like to think there will be excellent pizzelles in Heaven finally now. She deserves her peace. In Sympathy, Dede Prince

We the Rutherford Family extend our heartfelt condolences to each of you. A true neighbor and friend for over 39 years has passed on.
