Gary Joseph Gugliemotto, Sr., born on January 27th, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 with his loving wife of 43 years by his side on June 14th, 2025, in Folsom, California.
Gary was preceded in death by his infant daughter Gina Marie Gugliemotto and his parents, Joseph Frank and Winifred “Wini” Kathryn (Reedy) Gugliemotto of whom he was the oldest child. Gary is survived by his wife Nancy (Stuthard) Gugliemotto; sisters, Sue Gugliemotto, Judy Gugliemotto, Toni Gugliemotto; son, Gary (Janna) Gugliemotto Jr.; daughter, Gianna (Terry) Thompson; grandchildren, Tyler (Mikaela) Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Gabriella Gugliemotto, Sofia Gugliemotto; great-granddaughters, Gwendalyn and Aurora Thompson; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Gary was a 1963 Graduate of St. Charles High School in Columbus, Ohio where he played on the football team. He earned an associate degree in computer science from the University of Dayton and relocated to San Francisco, California, for employment with United Airlines in the computer science department. He later retired as AVP of Information Technology from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco.
Gary served in the United States Airforce, reaching the rank of Sergeant and was stationed in Germany as a Communications Center Specialist Supervisor, which contributed to the technical skills he applied throughout his Information Technology career.
Gary loved to watch football and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Nancy. He loved listening to music and having a drink and dinner with close friends. Gary will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He loved to joke around and was constantly teasing those he was closest to. He was highly respected for his knowledge of computer technology and ability to solve difficult computer related problems. He was a loving and caring man to his wife, children, relatives and friends. Gary was a very strong man, a man’s man. He was honest, respectful and decent. He was loved by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Latreia Palliative Care for their help during his last days. Gary’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the New Life Church, 3690 Stygler Road, Columbus, Ohio 43230. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM prior to the service with a reception following at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Gary.
