Obituary

Frances F. Moriarty, artist, writer and proud mother of four daughters, died on June 28, 2013 at age 90. She was born on August 9, 1922 in New York City, the youngest daughter of Herman and Bessie Fried. She was preceded in death by both of them, as well as her siblings, Saul, Helen and Ruth and her beloved husband, Clifford. Frances attended Florida State College for Women, now Florida State University, beginning at age 16. She continued studying textile design at The Student Arts League of New York. She was working for the war effort in Miami when she met and fell in love with Clifford Moriarty, a handsome Army Air Force captain, marrying him at St. Francis of Assisi Church in New York City on Oct 7, 1946. They settled in Columbus, Ohio
where Frances raised her family, worked as a substitute teacher and was an active member of the Ohio State University Women's Club. She lost her husband in 1991 just short of their 45th wedding anniversary. Frances had a passion for reading, particularly mysteries and spy thrillers. She was also fascinated by politics and regularly served as a judge at the voting polls. She will be terribly missed by her daughters, Patricia (Peltier), Brigid, Sheelah and Erin, her son-in-law, James Musurca, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as longtime friends, Wilma Thomas, Marion Liebermann, Marilyn McNeil and Kitty Solomonides. She also leaves behind her precious dog, Maggie. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Sunrise of Bexley. The family is very grateful to HomeReach Hospice and the caregivers from Comfort Keepers and Home Instead ,especially Sianna White, Florence Arinaitwe and Helen Diyla who were so loving and devoted to our mother. Together with our Angels, Katrina Hall and JoNell Moriarty, they allowed Frances to enjoy the comfort of her own home for the past year. Frances' family will receive friends on Monday, July 1, 2013, from 6-8 p.m., at THE JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. MEMORIAL MASS 11:00 A.M., TUESDAY, JULY 2, 2013, AT ST. AGATHA CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1860 Northam Road (Upper Arlington). Private family burial, Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum, Lewis Center, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Franklin County Dog Shelter, 4340 Tamarack Boulevard, Columbus (43229). Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.

Hello Brigid, First I want to let you know that you and your family are in my heart and prayers! I know that your loss is great but try to focus on how positive and giving your mom was and how many lives she made better.

Brigid, you probably don't remember being the art teacher at old Linden BUT I DO! I still have the pen and ink drawing of a tree that you so graciously created for me....I wanted you to know that you left a footprint on my heart forever!
You and your family will walk with me throughout my life.
Again, may God hold your family in His right Hand and close to His Heart.
