Egisto Del Greco, age 97, born in Introdacqua, Italy on 2 October 1911, passed away suddenly on Monday 14, September 2009 surrounded by family members. Owner of Del's and Linmore Cleaners where he did tailoring for his customers and the owner of Sycamore Grill and Bowling. He was a proud and long time member of St. John The Baptist Italian Catholic Church and a founding member of the Abruzzi Club where he held all positions. Also a member of the SFI and St. Clair Athletic Club, the Mellonaires, Amici D'oro and the American Federation of Musicians #103. Egisto was also a musician in the National Guard, Franklin Post #1 and the Columbus Municipal Band and he also had his own band. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Indians fan, who got pure joy from watching them play and also a winning Bocce player. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. A good and honest man who will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by parents Rosa and Arfino Del Greco, brothers Nello and Jerry (Rose) and sister Bege (Eneo) Volpe, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Virginia (Marion) Cautela, James (Emily), Frank, Marek (Pauline and Lee), German (Jean and Virginia, Julius (Rosemary) and Julian (Bea) Verne. Survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Viola (Verne), children Anita (Pat) Elkins, Rita (Dave) Kreuzer and Frank (Sue) Del Greco, 11 grandchildren: Brent (Vickie), Kevin and Jeff Elkins, David (Carol), Robert (Nicole) Kreuzer, Shelli (Jim) Stumph, Brad (Amy), Jeff (Jennifer), Dean (Rachel) Kreuzer, Tracie (Tony) Romanelli and Frank Del Greco, 26 great-grandchildren: Brittany, Austin, Branden, Chase, Alexis, Britton Elkins; Linsay, Kiel, Kaela, Alexa, Nikolas Kreuzer, Justin, Jordan, Jamie Stumph; Daniel, Jake, Talia, Ricci, Ava, Abigail, Sam, Cole Kreuzer, Nicole, Tony and Nyah Romanelli. Also survived by sister-in-law Elsie Del Greco and special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may call WEDNESDAY September 16, 2009 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM with the Abruzzi Club and SFI Lodge Service at 7:00 PM and Catholic Wake Service at 7:45 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM on THURSDAY 17, September 2009 at St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, 720 Hamlet Street, Rev. Fr. William A. Metzger, Presider.
