Donna M. (Lewis) Piteo, age 71, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2007, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer, which she beat. Donna succumbed to the many unexpected side effects of a stem cell transplant. She was a talented and creative seamstress. A cherished friend to all she met and the first to always lend a helping hand. Her greatest joys came from being a mom and grandma. Donna retired from the Inside Outfitters and was a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church. She was born on July 13, 1936, to the late Josephine (Showalter) Walls. She is also preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Dominic "Don" Piteo; brother, John "Bob" Lewis and stepfather, Raymond Walls. She is survived by her children, Phillip "Andy" (Patty Burnell) of Columbus, Patrick "Pat" (Becky Hitt) of Springfield, Thomas "Tom" (Carol Ray) of Lewis Center, Mary (James) Fortier of Powell and Paula Piteo-Swisher of Marysville; grandchildren: Jason, Jeff, Amanda, Jake, Cady, Tony, Michael, Leah, Christina, Dakota, Elena and Dominick; sisters, Betty (Lewis) Heirs of Florida; Joyce Cockrel of North Carolina; brother, Raymond (Sharon) Walls of Wisconsin; sister-in-laws, Betty Lewis of Columbus; sister-in-laws, Evelyn (Tony) Placenti and Jane (Piteo) Larabee, both of Columbus; her little dog, Hannah; many nieces, nephews and friends including the staff at the BMT Unit of the James/OSU Hospital. Friends may call WEDNESDAY at THE JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 5-8:30 p.m., with a Prayer Service on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass 12:00 p.m., THURSDAY at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio (within the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery). Rev. Fr. William A. Metzger, Presider. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
