Daniel Edward Fiorini, age 86, passed away from this life suddenly on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his home in Columbus. Born on December 15, 1927, he was a child of the Great Depression and the son of immigrant parents, mother, Maria Carmen (DiLoreto) Fiorini and father, Arcangelo Fiorini. He was a proud graduate of Aquinas College High School and The Ohio State University College of Business Administration, Beta Alpha Psi business fraternity. He joined his family in operating the Twentieth Century Foods, an American-Italian restaurant in what is now the Short North. A precise accountant, he worked for 40 years in mortgage banking as CFO at the First Investment Company. As an avid bowler, long-suffering Bengals fan, word sleuth, puzzle solver and card shark, he delighted in engaging friends and in tackling mental challenges. He cherished his time with family and friends, nothing pleased him more than preparing and sharing a delicious meal. He was married for 44 years to Mary Christine Lewis who preceded him in death in 1991. He is also preceded in death by brothers, Tony DiLoreto, Andy DiLoreto and Michael Fiorini, and by sisters, Assunta Patanella and Lucia Gatto. He is survived by sons, William (Barbara) Fiorini and Michael (Kathy) Fiorini; and daughters, Donna (Vincent) Hartnett and Danielle (Susan Colangelo) Fiorini; grandchildren Kathleen Hartnett, Bevin Hartnett, Daniel Fiorini, David Fiorini, Matthew Fiorini, Catherine Francisco, Kimberly Fiorini and Rebecca Fiorini; great-grandchildren Christopher Nowell, Nicholas Fiorini, Claire Fiorini, Luca Francisco, Herbert Dunn IV, Gabriella Francisco and Rocco Fiorini. He had great affection for his numerous nephews and nieces. Private services will be held for the family. A memorial celebration is planned for all friends and family at a later date.
