Obituary

Carolyn “Sue” Rossetti Swain passed away on October 31, two days after her 89th birthday. She was born in Evansville, Indiana to parents Russell and Edna Crawford. She is preceded in death by husbands John “Tom” Smith, Quido Rossetti and Ralph Swain; parents; sisters Wanda Rommel and Janet Philips; stepson Dave Swain.

With Tom’s passing, she became a widow at the age of 32 with two young children to raise. She is survived by son Gregory Smith (Rebekah) and daughter Stacy Gessells; grandchildren Scott Gessells (Theresa), Kevin Gessells (Caitlin), Wyatt, Ethan and Allie Smith; great grandchildren Chloe, Braden, Ava, Ella, Sophie, Gavin, Austin, Connor, Caleb, Luke, and Zeke; brother Jerry Crawford (Fae); Step-children Tom Swain (Diane), Janice Katynski (Greg); many nieces, nephews and friends; and her beloved Yorkie, Bella Nina.

She was an active member in Guild Athletic Ladies Auxiliary, Iota Tau Sigma Sorority, Amici D’Oro St. John’s, St. Francis Seniors, and her weekly ladies card group. Sue enjoyed spending time with her family and loved the many club’s parties, especially dressing up for Halloween and many bus trips they went on. She was never shy about getting up in front of a crowd and singing her favorite song “Crazy” by Patsy Cline. For 30+ years, every Friday she would get her hair done by Heather DeBellis and then go shopping with her dear friend Anne DeBellis. It was never that she needed anything but always the fun of getting a bargain! She had a zest for life and always a smile on her face.

Family will receive friends on November 10 at JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Ave from 4-7 pm. Entombment St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S High St, Lockbourne at noon on November 11. In loving memory of, contributions may be made in Sue’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association Central Ohio Chapter (5200 Upper Metro Place, Suite 170, Dublin, OH 43017) or online at alz.org/centralohio.
