Obituary
Carmelo Gioffre, 91, passed away Monday July 6, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Carmelo "Carl" was a devoted husband, fantastic father and wonderful grandfather. He touched many lives with his love, wisdom and sense of pride. He came to America from his hometown of Tresilico, Italy when he was only 17 years of age. Carl became a naturalized citizen of the United States, served in the United States Army during WWII and met and married his wife Dina with whom he shared 60 wonderful years together until her passing in 2004. He was a welder on the Pennsylvania Railroad. He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Vittoria Gioffre; wife Dina Gioffre; brother Benny (Juanita) Gioffre; brothers-in-law Umberto and Ralph Quitar; sisters-in-law Ida Zappia and Olga Wolfe. Survived by his four children Anthony (Ann), Victoria Delfino (Robert Belli), Carl (Sandy), and John( Candy); grandchildren Michelle (Jamie) Damron, Anthony Gioffre II, James (Heather)Delfino; Michael (Robyn) Delfino; Stephanie (Ben) Charles; Carl (Becky) Gioffre, Stephen (Tiffany) Gioffre, Katherine and Johnathan Gioffre; great grandchildren; Blake, Cheyanne, London, Giovanni and Salvatore; brother Joseph(Mary)Gioffre; brothers-in-law Joseph Zappia and Mario (Donna) Quitar; sisters-in-law Yola Quitar and Mary Quitar and many nieces and nephews; his loving and devoted caretakers Synthia, Rebecca and Gifty. Friends may call WEDNESDAY July 8, 2009 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 2:00-8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 4:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM on THURSDAY July 9, 2009 at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 1582 Ferris Road, Rev. Fr. James T. Smith, Presider. FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET AT CHURCH FOR HIS FUNERAL MASS. Entombment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio.
