Obituary

Carl C. Whiteman, age 83, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Columbus Alzheimer's Center. He grew up in Grandview attending Grandview High School, Class of 1941. Long time resident of Upper Arlington. Preceded in death by his parents John and Clara Whiteman and sister Phyllis Lawrence. Survived by his loving & caring wife of 56 1/2 years Mary Ann(Schreick), children Linda (Mark) Uhrenholt of Walnut Creek, CA., Diane Amos of Lewisburg, OH, Mike Whiteman of Columbus, OH, Jim (Cindy) Whiteman of Avon Lake, OH and Carol Whiteman of Boyton Beach, FL, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, many nieces, nephews and special friends. Carl served in the US Coast Guard and US Navy. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1949. Former owner of Colonial Building Materials, Colonial Fireplaces and a member of the Indian Lake Elks and Moose Clubs. Carl will be remembered for his love of conversation and years at Indian Lake with his family & friends. The family expresses thanks to the caregivers at The Columbus Alzheimer's Center and in lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Carl to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio, 3380 Tremont Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on FRIDAY, February 16, 2007 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1860 Northam Road. Reception immediately following. Dear Mike and Jim,

You may not remember me but we were in Boy Scout Troop 180 together way back in the 60's. I remember you both and I remember your dad and wanted to send my condolences. As I recall, our dad's also knew each other having grown up around the same time in Grandview. I have a lot of fond memories of our times in scouts. Again, my condolences on your loss.
