Angeline L. DeMatteo, age 100, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 21 in the home of her daughter, surrounded by her family. She was born to Antonio and Tommasina Capocciama in Columbus, Ohio on December 27, 1907. Angie married Charles DeMatteo on August 24, 1927, in St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, and they enjoyed 78 years of marriage before Charles passed away in 2005 at the age of 99. They were long-time residents of Grove City and members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Angie was a member of the Santa Maria Auxiliary and the St. Peter and Paul Guild. She enjoyed working retail for many years—-first at Seiller's Department Store and then, The J. C. Penney Company from which she retired. Known for her gracious hospitality extended to all who entered her home, Angie's many homemaking skills and special talents such as cooking, baking, dressmaking and crocheting gave much pleasure to her family as well as friends. In addition, she was an avid reader. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Angie will be greatly missed by her family. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Mary Ann Cervi of Toledo and Anita Lantz of Columbus; grandchildren Thomas (Stephenie), Michael (Alyce), Gregg (Mary), John (Tammera), Sr. Marie Christine, SND, Carmine C. Cervi; Angela (Terry) Cook, Lisa (Thomas) Peters; Lauren (Simon) Roper, Craig Lantz; 16 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She also leaves one sister, Nellie Lewis; brothers-in-law, Rocky (Rose) DeMatteo, Ralph (Christina) DeMatteo and Sam Schillaci. Also, she is survived by many nieces and nephews. Angeline is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; son, Carmine J. (Carol) DeMatteo; grandson, Mark Lantz; infant sister, Theresa; brother, Armond Capocciama; sisters, Bessie Pentello, Sandina Elliott and Mary Schillaci; son-in-law, Carmine Cervi; sister-in-law, Betty Capocciama; brothers-in-law, Daniel, Michael, Anthony, Joseph, Leonard and John DeMatteo, Rocky Pentello and Frank Lewis. The family extends grateful appreciation to the Mt. Carmel Hospice team and private nursing aide, Rebecca Tettey, for their loving care of our mother and for their emotional support for us. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 26, 2-4 pm and 5–8 pm (Rosary recited 7:30 pm) at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus 43212. Funeral procession will depart from the funeral home at 9:30 am and proceed to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3730 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 27, Rev. Fr. John L. Swickard, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Angie to the Mt.
