Obituary

William Anthony "Bill" Albanese, 70, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was just shy of his 71st birthday. Bill is predeceased by his parents, John D. Albanese and Velma (DeVictor) Albanese; and brother, John T. (Terry) Albanese. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Smith Albanese; daughters, Katie (Kyle) and Kelly (Blake); stepdaughter, Natalie (Jordan) Helphrey; and grandchildren, Matthew and McKenzie Helphrey. Bill was a 1968 graduate of Grandview Heights High School and a 1973 Graduate of The Ohio State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He loved his career path and talking all things motors. Born and raised in Grandview Heights, he was a lifelong proud Bobcat and Buckeye, not missing a home Buckeye football game until the 2018 season. His love of Lake Erie and boating was passed on to his daughters, and he cherished his annual trips to Put-In-Bay with his wife Kelly. He enjoyed taking friends and family boating and teaching them to waterski. In his later years he loved spending time with his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bill's memory to FairHope Hospice & Palliative Care, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, OH (43130). All services are private and entrusted with the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.

My blessings to you and all relatives. He always had a smile when I asked if he wanted a program. Seems he was part of my lot, selling programs, for the 41 years I have been selling. We discussed the up coming games and on occasion predict a score. His smile will be missed. Go Bucks!!

Extending heartfelt sympathy. Bill and my brother, Tom Williams '68, who passed away in 2019, were classmates at GHS. I am sure they are having heavenly discussions now about their beloved Buckeyes.

My heart goes out to the family of friends of Bill Albanese. We shared many similar interests and had many great conversations about electrical matters, guns and a variety of things. He was always very respectful and inviting towards me. I’m glad Kelly and I got to bond with him in his final years. I know he is at peace now. I’ll miss you Bill.
