Paul Joseph Follis passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2017, at the age of 101. Born to parents Milo and Elizabeth Follis in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, he was a devoted and loving husband and father. Preceded in death by wife, Bertha (Dede); infant granddaughter, Leeann Furr; son-in-law, Don Furr; brothers, Carl, Ralph, Louie, Frank, Jim (Joy), Jack (Margaret); and sister, Helen Worrell. Survived by daughter and caregiver, Sandi Furr; granddaughters, Staci Perkins and Sunny Nichols; and eight great-grandchildren, Marissa, Cody, Ross, Emma, Mackenzie, Joey (Paul’s namesake), Morgan, and Macy. He was called Pawpaw by all of the “grands.” Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Paul was a quiet man beloved by all who met him. He took pride and enjoyed maintaining a pristine lawn, daring anyone to find a weed, and he did so looking dapper in a collared shirt tucked in to belted slacks – always a dapper guy. He never missed mass and arrived very, very early to get the good parking space, then would wait in his car until it was time to go in. He couldn’t wait for warm weather so he could sit on his porch and survey all of Westwood Avenue. He unknowingly gave his daughter gifts of deep faith, unconditional love, strong work ethic, and a streak of stubbornness (which has sustained her through many of life’s challenges – thanks, Dad). He was resident babysitter for all eight great-grandchildren, often rocking them until his arms went numb. He loved his family more than anything. We know there is a big family reunion taking place in heaven. Enjoy sitting on God’s porch, Dad. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1559 Roxbury Rd., Columbus, 43212, immediately followed by a celebration of life luncheon in the parish hall. At his request there will not be calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in his memory to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church or Mt. Carmel Hospice. Arrangements entrusted with JOHN QUINT TREBONI, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.
