Obituary

E. Eleanor Buck, age 85, of Grandview Heights, Ohio, passed away on May 24, 2015. She was born on April 27, 1930, to Gordon and Gladys (DeWees) Stewart in Columbus, Ohio. Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grand-mother and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 63-years, C. Ray; sons, Michael and Stephen; grandson Aron; and brother-in-law, Robert White. She is survived by her son, Joel (Wendy) Buck; grandchildren, Farrah and Ryan Buck of Las Vegas, Raymond of Dillonvale, David of Chicago, James of Akron, Alex and Cassidy Buck of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Aron and Taeson of Las Vegas; daughters-in-law Vicki and LaRee; and sister-in-law, Jeanie Buck. Also survived by her loving sister, Connie White of Upper Arlington, who was her companion, chauffer, and best friend; many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was a member of Boulevard Presbyterian Church in Grandview Heights and a past Treasurer of her Circle, a 36-year member and Past President of the Grandview Heights Civic Welfare Club, a member of the Guild Athletic Club's Ladies Auxiliary, the OSU Mothers Club - Group G, the St. Francis Senior Citizens Group, the AEP Veterans Association, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Flytown Club and the Grandview Heights Seniors Association. When Steve and Joe became of school age, Eleanor worked for several organizations. She sewed puppets for the local TV Show "Lucy's Toy Shop," worked at Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company, the Franklin County Heart Association as the "Heart Sunday" Coordinator and at Highlights for Children. Eleanor's neighborhood family was extremely important, especially after Ray's passing in 2010. Although the owners of many of the houses around her changed, the neighbors were always there for her and made her desire to stay in her two-story home a possibility. Mom's proudest non-family accomplishment was when neighbor Kate's daughter Meredith named her own daughter Eleanor. Eleanor faced and survived many obstacles during her lifetime. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but especially her family. Her family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, where her funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015. Burial to follow, Sunset Cemetery. GALA Service Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.
