Matthew Schrock of Columbus, Ohio died Monday, March 23, 2015 at Kobacker Hospice House. He was diagnosed with an advanced stage of cancer in late 2013. Determined to make the most of the time he had left, Matthew lived every day to the fullest. He spent his final days surrounded by loving friends and family. Matthew was born November 17, 1961 in Millersburg, Ohio. As a young man, he spent a term in voluntary service as a counselor at Fairplay Wilderness Camp in South Carolina, which he described as a transformative experience. Matthew earned a B.A. and M.A. in architecture from The Ohio State University. His diverse career encompassed many trades and professions including woodworking, design, and software development. He was an active participant in the Vineyard Lane Avenue church community. Matthew is survived by his wife Clara; daughters, Karen and Victoria; sons Joshua and
Zachary; sisters, Janice (Marvin), Karen (John), and Bernice (Hosea); brothers, Bryan (Kathy) and Mark; and parents Ivan and Erma. His gentle spirit, good humor, and thoughtful character will be sorely missed. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 27, 2015, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Ave, Columbus (43212); and Saturday, March 28, from 9-Noon at the Messiah Amish Mennonite Church, 5237 OH-557 Millersburg, OH 44654, followed by his funeral at 2:00 p.m. Burial Schrock Family Cemetery.
