Obituary

Anne Elizabeth (Amicon) Corna, 89, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Anne was born on July 26, 1924, to the late Rocco and Rosa (D’Achibucci) Amicon, Italian immigrants to the United States. Anne worked at her father’s grocery store, Amicon’s, in Grandview and per popular opinion she ran it, working long hours. With an ill mother who passed away at an early age, Anne was the rock of the Amicon family, a role she played extraordinarily well until her passing. Anne was a loving wife to her husband of 65 years, Albert, and was a major support to him as he built his company, Corna & DiCesare Builders. Anne was an extraordinarily nurturing mother. Anne and her five siblings, Lilian, Billy, Irene, Rosemary and Janet had a very special bond throughout their lives and this relationship has been passed on to the next three generations. She was a renowned cook in the Old Italian style and kept everyone well fed. Anne was a member of the Bonhomie Club and the Sibylla Society. She served as the hospitality chairperson for the LPGA tournament stop in Columbus in the 1960's and 1970’s. Anne was a sweet, generous and loving woman, and all who knew her, loved her. She is survived by her devoted sister Janet (Sister Rosina) and devoted brother-in-law Richard (Nadine); sons, Mark (Mindy), Michael and Joe (Kyle); grandchildren, Josh (Amy), Sophia (Scott Horowitz), Colin and Bridget; great-grandchildren, Julia, Quinn and Zachary; and several nieces and nephews. The family thanks Joe and Mary DiCesare, Leo and Lorraine Guglielmi and their families for their lifelong friendship and support. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West 5th Avenue, Columbus (with a Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m.). Her funeral will be celebrated at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery (6440 S. High St., Lockbourne) at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014, with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Anne’s memory to the Epilepsy Foundation of Central Ohio, 510 E. North Broadway, Columbus, OH 43214 or the Casey Mentel Scholarship Fund at St. Charles Preparatory School, 2010 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43209Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com.

It is with great sadness that I extend my condolences on the passing of Anne Corna. She was an extremely pleasant and gracious woman. My staff and I always enjoyed seeing Anne though her problems were quite worrisome and complex. We did our best to care for her. She was always grateful for any efforts we extended to her. Anne and her extended family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,
James L. Moses, M.D. and staff
