Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Puccetti ended his long battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor on Tuesday June 16, 2009 at home surrounded by his devoted family. He bravely dealt with this disease for over a year and surrendered to it just 7 days after his 76th birthday. Born June 9th, 1933 to parents Gene and Pearl (Miller) Puccetti. He lived his entire life in Columbus. Gene was a graduate of Holy Family High School and he served 2 years in the Army stationed in Germany during the Korean war. He married Kathleen "Kathy" Galusha on September 1st, 1956. Gene worked for Westinghouse for several years, then at Bishop Ready High School as Custodian for over 20 years and at Worthington Schools for 10 years. He was also employed part-time for The Cleaning Company at the time of his diagnosis in April, 2008. He was devoted to his family and loved working in his garden every Summer. In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Diane Puccetti, Paul (Becky) Puccetti, and Amy (Steve) Manning, as well as 4 grandchildren, Heather and Erik Manning and Josh and Tony Puccetti, the loves of his life. Also surviving Gene are numerous cousins. The family wishes to thank the numerous caregivers who brought Gene comfort and assistance during this difficult time in his life – HomeReach Hospice, Dr. McMaken with Visiting Physicians, our family physician, Dr. David Neiger, and very special friend Pam Hall. The prayers and support of so many friends and family too numerous to count have been our stronghold to get us through the day-to-day care for Gene. God bless you all. Friends may call THURSDAY, June 18, 2009 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 3:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM on FRIDAY June 19, 2009 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 473 S. Roys Avenue, Rev. Fr. Stanley Benecki, Presider. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE ASK TO MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 North High Street, Lewis Center, Ohio. Let me offer my deepest sympathy at the loss of Eugene. It was my distinct privilege to be available for you if you needed the help of a volunteer. I was lucky enough to meet you and learn about Eugene's life. It is a fascinating story and one that will always be remembered. You have such wonderful family and friends for support. May you be a comfort to one another in the days ahead and in the future. Eugene got such outstanding care from you all. He was a lucky man indeed.

Hi Kathleen and family, I want to extend my deepest sympathy for the passing of your husband and father. Kathleen, I never connected a face when you were so good to write on my son, Sean's, caringbridge site. I only knew you as the Luckhaupt cousin. I remember Eugene very well from when he was a custodian at Bishop Ready. May God be with all of you through this very difficult time. Hold onto all of your very special memories.God is Good!! We were so sorry to hear about Gene's passing. He was such a wonderful kind person. We used to always see him on "Bingo night" - always smiling - just nice to "be around". He will be missed. So sorry that we could not come to the wake on Thursday - I missed the listing in the paper until Thursday night - our prayers are with you.
