James Carr Grossman, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born December 29, 1920 in Columbus. He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Italia "Tally" Mininni Grossman; parents, Dr. James D. and Lillie (Carr) Grossman; sister, Betsy Jane Nudd. Survived by his daughter, Trina M. (Don) Gill; granddaughter, Erin (Phil) Prendeville; grandson, Keith (Anne) Gill; great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Emerson Prendeville and Carter Gill. Jim graduated from Upper Arlington High School, Class of 1939; attended Ohio State University and Ohio University. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant from the USAF in 1969. He also retired as a senior insurance adjuster with Buckeye Union (Continental CNA) insurance companies in 1995. Jim was an over 70 year member of the University Masonic Lodge F & AM 631, a former member of Hamassa Shrine (Mississippi) and Aladdin Shrine (Columbus). He was an avid chess player, a dedicated Ohio State Buckeyes fan and was a former member of the Swim & Racquet Club on Kenny Road. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. Graveside service with U. S.
