Obituary

Jean Ellen "Jeannie" LaPolla, with her family at her side, one of the worlds kindest, gentlest souls slipped away peacefully Monday evening, September 11, 2017, concluding an over four year battle with cancer. Born, July 29, 1960, Jeannie was the youngest child of Hilaire and Louise Markey. Raised in Delta, Ohio she spent her adult life in Columbus. A woman with wide varied interests and talents, she found some of her most rewarding work as a Licensed Massage Therapist for the past twenty years, employed most recently by Nationwide Children's Hospital. She's remembered for her warm heart and kind, loving spirit. She also had an uncanny ability to dissect and comprehend complex matters. This proved to be especially useful in her research covering such issues as diet, exercise, supplements, and alternative treatments either in addition to or in place of more conventional cancer care. Often she would chronicle this in her weekly blog entries at ineverlikedpink.blogspot.com which she originally started just to update friends and family on her cancer journey and later that of her husband. Other passions included reading, travel, fitness, gardening, cooking, and finding myriad inventive ways to create an incredible life for her family. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived, remembered and missed by her husband John; her brothers, Paul (Deb) Markey of Lady Lake, Florida and Roger Markey of Delta; sister-in-law, Mary Jo (Brian) Hulburt of Virginia Beach, VA; her beloved nephews and niece, and furry companions, Tillie and Rose. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Her memory will be commemorated on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11 a.m., at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in her memory to The Stratford Ecological Center or the Capital Area Humane Society. The family sends their sincerest thanks to the staff members at Dublin Methodist Hospital for the wonderful hospice care they provided in Jeannie's final days. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com Services entrusted with JOHN QUINT TREBONI, 1177 W. Fifth Avenue, Columbus.
