Mary Orinda White Smith, age 94, of passed away on November 27, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Last daughter of Norman E. White and Hattie S. White of the C. D. White & Son Funeral Home. Retired school teacher with the Columbus Public Schools after thirty-six years; life-long member of Mt. Vernon Ave. A.M.E. Church. Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Out With The Girls. Preceded in death by parents, Norman E. and Hattie S. White; husband, Grady T. Smith, Sr.; son, Grady T. Smith, Jr.; granddaughter, Kashmir Smith; brother, Norman Shelby White; sisters, Janet White Witbeck and Cecilia G. Jenkins. Survived by daughters, Harriett (James) Young of Henderson, NV; Judith (Curtis) Matthews of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Robert (Flora) Langston, Jr., of Sacramento, CA., Shawn (Stephen) Clayton, Phenoix, Arizonia, Curitis (Jannette) Matthews, II, Columbia, Maryland, Joseph Smith, Richmond, Virginia, Michael S. (Heather) Matthews, Raleigh, North Carolina, Brandon E. Smith, Cleveland, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Kristina Lanay Gant, Chicago, Ill., Temia, Quinn, Aliana, Dea Janay, Amaya, Bryce, Grady, Paige, Charlie, Robert and Mia; cousins, Alice Smith of Buffalo, NY, Addie Ben Carr of Houston, Texas, Freda White and Katherine White both of Columbus; special niece, Jacqueline Gardiner of Cleveland. A host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her funeral is Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Mt. Vernon Avenue A.M.E. Church 1127 Mt. Vernon Ave., at 7:00 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. William S. Wheatley, Senior Pastor, Presiding. Friends may call from 1 p.m., until time of service where her family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Burial, Saturday at 10 a.m., at the Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg.
