Obituary

Mario A. Macioce, died peacefully with family surrounding him at Brookdale Chestnut Hill Assisted Living Community in Columbus, Ohio on October 20, 2016. He was 91 years young. Mario was born on June 15, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from St Mary’s High School, Columbus, Ohio in 1943. He proudly served his country as an Army Serviceman in WWII. He married his high school sweetheart, Christina Napolitano, on June 19, 1946. Mr. and Mrs. Macioce made their home in Columbus, Ohio where Mario worked for The Carnation/Nestles Corporation for 33 years. He retired in 1987. He belonged to the Guild Athletic Club (Past President) and the Flytown Club. Mario enjoyed playing pinochle with his buddies at The Guild Athletic Club every Wednesday evening as well as cheating at cards with his granddaughters, who brought such joy to his life. Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Gennette Macioce; brother, Frank; sister, Mary. Mario is survived by his wife of 70 years, Christina; son and daughter-in-law, Mario and Cindi; and granddaughters, Maria and Juliana; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 3-6 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Avenue, Columbus, Ohio (with GAC and Flytown services at 5:15 p.m., followed by a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m.). Family and friends are asked to gather for a Celebration Mass in honor of Mario's life at 10 a.m., on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, (located within the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery), 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne. Special thanks to the staffs of Riverside Methodist Hospital, Whetstone Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Mt. Carmel Hospice, and the Brookdale Chestnut Hill Assisted Living Community. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the GAC Scholarship Fund, POB 323, Columbus (43215). My sincere condolences to Chris and all of the family. Mario was a strong role model for me as I grew up.I remember going to Ohio State Football games with him.He helped my mother a lot over the years. He lived a long happy life and is with God today.
