Leonard R. Daloia, age 93, life-long native, passed away January 30, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. Leonard was born on January 12, 1922, to the late Michael and Grace (Montenaro) Daloia. On January 12, 1947, he married Virginia Marcum and she survives with two daughters, Grace C. (Valerio) Canini and Dee (Dr. Patrick) Fahey. Also surviving, are five grandchildren, Kristine Mandros, Jennifer Fahey Sears (Adam),
Wendy Fahey Currier (David), Holly Fahey Babeaux (Benjamin) and Christopher Patrick Fahey. Survived by two great-grandchildren, Londen Sears and Mae Currier. Leonard graduated from Central High School in June, 1940. His employment at Lazarus began in March, 1940 when he was chosen as one of seventeen seniors in a new school program called Sales Promotion, which was created to get depression-era jobs for new graduates. Three months later, Leonard was ordered into the US Army as part of The Ohio National Guard’s federal call-up of troops. He served five years - three and a half in the Pacific. He saw combat in New Georgia, Bougainville, Solomon Islands and Luzon, Philippines. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Presidential Unit Citation. Upon return to Lazarus, he was a copywriter, ad manager, Publicity Director and Vice President of Publicity/Advertising. He retired in 1981. Leonard was active in many civic, business, charitable and professional activities. A current member of Holy Spirit Parish and the 37th Division Veterans Associations.
We will miss this very engaging, resilient and highly trustworthy man. The family would like to thank his family physician, Dr. James Soldano, for his conscientious care for many years, along with all the nurses and staff members at Mount Carmel Hospice. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 11:00 a.m., until time of his funeral at 1:30 p.m., at JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. Rev. Fr. William Arnold, Presiding. Burial to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg. Donations may be made to Holy Spirit Parish (4383 E.
