Obituary

James Joseph "Jim" Brookbank, 81, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Born March 3, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio to Helen (Circone) Gardner. Jim was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He never met a stranger and always had a smile and a joke! Jim proudly served his country in the Korean War as a Medic Private First Class with the United States Army. An entrepreneur of numerous businesses and two Columbus restaurants through the years, Jim showed he was quite the Renaissance Man. With proud Italian heritage he was a devoted family man; always affectionate, caring and supportive. Jim and his wife Lucille married in November of 1952 and had three children of their own and fostered countless others throughout the early years of their 62 year marriage. Jim is preceded in death by his grandparents, Antonio and Liberata Circone; mother, Helen (Circone) Gardner; special aunt, Levia Capuano; and son, James E. Brookbank. Jim is survived by his loving wife Lucille (Kidwell) Brookbank; daughters, Becky (Nip) Culver and Lisa Couden; his grandchildren, Kacy (Alison) Culver, Joshua (Kari) Culver, Lindsay (Todd) Tedder, Joseph (Jennifer) Couden and Brandie Brookbank; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Sunday, September 21, 2014, from 3-6 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, where his funeral will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Jim lived every day to the fullest and often said “Life is what you make it.” Thank you for your condolences and we hope that you think of Jim and enjoy…la bellezza di non fare niente.
