Robert J. DeStefano, age 90, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Mt Carmel West Hospital. He was born January 17, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to the Columbus, Ohio, area in the 1940’s to work for Monarch Life Insurance Company. Robert opened his own company in the late 1970’s in which he retired from in the mid 1990’s. Robert served in WWII as an Infantry soldier. He loved his large family; was an avid golfer and loved his dogs. Preceded in death by his father, Angelo DeStefano and his mother, Lucy DeStefano of Pennsylvania; stepmother, Ann Boynton of Columbus. Robert leaves behind a loving wife of 45 years, Yvonne DeStefano of Upper Arlington and four children, Robert Destefano of Columbus, Lisa Wissinger of Dublin, Bill DeStefano (Tracy) of Upper Arlington, and Susan (John) Leohner of Upper Arlington. Robert also leaves behind 3 loving step-children, John (Diane) Hinton of Chillicothe, Stephanie (Jeff) DaRoja of Pennsylvania and Kim LaRochelle of Upper Arlington. Robert has eight grandchildren: Brandon Wissinger, Corey Wissinger, Dakota DeStefano, Destiny DeStefano, Desiree DeStefano, Sophia Leohner, Tiffany (Michael Brewer) Evans and Shannon (Wayne) Evans-Gonzales; three great-grandchildren; Alllison Gonzales, Michael and Dominic Evans. brother, Tommy (Cathy) DeStefano of Florida and sister, Susan (Burt) Hendley of Zanesville, Ohio. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 4-7 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, with a Prayer Service at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1420 Grandview Avenue, Columbus. Burial to follow at Union Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to the Capitol Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Ct., Hilliard (43026).
