Obituary

Kathryn Elizabeth Brennan, age 80, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2014 with her family at her side after a valiant struggle with Multiple Myeloma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John M. Brennan and her parents, Edward J. and Kathryn O'Hara Fox of Lancaster, Ohio, as well as seven of her eight brothers and sisters; and granddaughter Caitlin Brennan. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Jeff) Krupp of Upper Arlington and Ann Brennan of Columbus; sons, John Brennan Jr. of Upper Arlington and Jim (fiancé Stephanie Records) Brennan of New Albany; plus three grandchildren, Jamie Krupp, Patrick Brennan and Elisabeth Brennan; numerous nieces and nephews; all of whom she loved dearly. Kathryn was a member of The Auxiliary of the Ohio Optometric Association and an active parishioner of St. Andrews Catholic Church. She played on the St. Andrews Women's Golf Team in her younger days, where she recorded her one and only "hole-in-one." Kathryn was always the life of the party, a giver and caring soul to all, and appreciative of everyone. Kathryn kept the family and everyone who entered her life laughing, even at the end of her life and during her final days. A Lancaster native, Kathryn graduated from St. Mary's High School and attended Ohio State University before accomplishing her greatest achievement in life, being a wonderful and caring mother. Kathryn loved shopping and spent many wonderful years working at one of her favorite stores, Meijer. In her later years, Kathryn was also a loyal member of the American Legion Post 614 in Hilliard and enjoyed the time spent there with her many friends. A special thank you to the caring staff at Kobacker House and Dr. Don M. Benson Jr. and his wonderful staff at The James Cancer Hospital (2nd floor of The James Clinic) and the 2James Chemotherapy Staff. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Avenue, Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Road (at Reed) in Upper Arlington, OH, 43220. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High St, Lockbourne, OH, 43137. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in her memory to The Multiple Myeloma Research Fund (#306144) at The James Cancer Hospital, P.O. Box 183112, Columbus, OH 43218-3112 or to the Kobacker House c/o Ohio Health Foundation, 180 E. Broad St., FL 31, Columbus, OH 43215. Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com. Karen I loved talking to your Mom. She was a very fun person and she always made me feel like family. I know you will miss her deeply. She is at peace and without pain now. My prayers are with you and your family at this very sad time. Your pain will fade as time goes by but every day something will remind of her that will make you smile or laugh.Remember all the good times with her. She was very special.
