Obituary

Don A. Furr of Columbus, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by parents, Charles Furr, Frances (Pendelton) Niper and step-father, Harold Niper. His infant daughter, Leeann, also predeceased him. Don was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Sandi (Follis) Furr; daughters, Staci Perkins and Sunny Nichols (his girls) as well as his eight wonderful grandchildren, Marissa, Cody, Ross, Emma, Mackenzie, Joey, Morgan and Macy. He also leaves behind his father-in-law, Paul Follis. His family will always lovingly remember his Bob-Newhart-meets-Bill-Cosby sense of humor and witty remarks. He loved White Castle, chocolate, jazz, a good mystery book, classic cars and anything British. Don was a jet bomber mechanic while serving in the United States Air Force. He attended The Ohio State University, Columbus State, and took several online courses just for the enjoyment it brought him. He retired from Ohio Water and Waste Supply as a sales rep. Don's family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 4-8 p.m., at THE JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Avenue, Columbus, with a Prayer Service at 7:45 p.m. Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 1559 Roxbury Road, Marble Cliff. Rev. Msgr. Romano Ciotola, Presider. Burial to follow, St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne. Special thanks to everyone at Mt. Carmel Hospice for their care and comfort given to the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be give to the Mid-Ohio Chapter of JDRF in honor of grandson, Cody Perkins, or Mt. Carmel Hospice would be appreciated. I am sorry that I cannot be there during this difficult time. Don was a strong, present, and devoted husband, father, and no doubt, grandfather. As such, the pain of your loss must be felt all the more. Please know that you are all in my heart and prayers and I am wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
