Obituary

Mary Rose (Coccia) Rossetti, born to Sicilian immigrant parents, Cesare and Concetta (Gerardi) Coccia on October 10,1922, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2015. A proud graduate of Central High School, class of 1940, Mary was employed as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Curtis-Wright Aircraft. She was a long time executive secretary for SCOA Industries (Schiff Shoes) and then pursued a career as a respected travel agent for several Columbus travel agencies. She enjoyed early retirement to be a wonderful grandmother but still found time to enjoy making her homemade pasta at a local Italian restaurant. Always proud of her Italian heritage, Mary loved to cook and bake authentic Italian food for her family and friends and was always happy to share her recipes. Mary was a founding member of the Golden Girls Club; Past President of the SFI Auxiliary; Member of St. John the Baptist Church where she was active in the Blessed Mother Sodality and an active participant in the early years of the Columbus Italian Festival. Preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Harvey, Sr. in 1994; brothers, Joseph (Nina), Frank (Sarah) and Alfred (Elia, Norma); sisters, Jenny (Frank Galilei), Josephine (Frank Roberts) and Marguerite; brother-in-law, Oliver; sisters-in-law Elsie (Nello DelGreco), Rose (Tom Alois); father and mother-in-law, Pasquale and Beatrice Rosati. Survived by sons, Patrick and Harvey, Jr. (Sue); grandchildren, Nicholas (Allison), Michael (Meghan), Megan (Travis Polk) and Nicole; great grandchildren, Francesca and Lidia Rossetti, Hunter and Graham Polk; sister-in-law, Doris Rossetti and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Our family extends our sincere gratitude to the caring staffs at Brookdale Senior Living and Heartland Uptown Westerville for mom's wonderful care. Family will receive friends Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 1-7 PM at JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Ave, with a prayer service at 3:30 PM. Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST ITALIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 720 Hamlet Street. Family and friends are asked to gather at the church for her funeral Mass. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High Street. A memorial Mass will be offered at the Cappella Coccia located within the Chiesa San Nicola, Isnello, Sicily at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Harvey and Mary Rossetti Scholarship at St. Francis DeSales H.S. or to St. John the Baptist Church Renovation Fund. Aunt Mary was such a warm loving person. The best time I can remember is when she had Phil, Marilyn, Ted and I over for an authentic Italian dinner. I remember her saying to me "now Kim, you have to be prepared to be at the dinner table for 3 hours". Of course I laughed under my breath at that, but she was right. We were at the table eating for a solid 3 hours. She lived a good life with a loving family and she will be missed. Love to you all.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. No matter how old your mom is when she passes, it is very difficult. We were very fortunate to both have mothers as good as yours and mine.

Our deepest sympathy to the Rossetti Family. We are Eucharistic Ministers and have had the privilege of bringing the Holy Eucharist to Mary, at the Sterling House. Mary was a beautiful woman inside and out and so lovely to us each week as we visited her. Her love for Our Lord and the Holy Eucharist shined in her face, as she received this blessing.

Trust in Jesus to get you through this difficult time. Mary is with Our Lord praising and glorifying Him...and waits for all of you to share the eternal life with her.

Our prayers are with you,
Dan & Bonnie Caplin
