Candida "Connie" Charlotte (nee Galgani) Lentz, age 94, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, at Willow Brook Christian Home in Columbus, OH. She is at peace with her Heavenly Father. She is preceded in death by parents, Pellegrino and Margaret Galgani; her husband of 44 years, Frederick Lentz; son, Peter Lentz; sister, Regina Galgani and brother, Carl Galgani. She was born September 9, 1919, in Parkersburg WV. There she attended elementary school where she was educated by the Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class at DeSales Heights Visitation Academy, and is a graduate of Marietta College, Phi Beta Kappa. She moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she worked for Columbus Public Libraries and OSU’s Education Library. Connie and Fred were married in 1950 and together raised six children. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a parishioner of St. James the Less since 1958. After her husband died in 1994, she started the “Paulas,” a support group for widows of the parish who conducted bake sales to assist C.P.P.S. seminarians. She was a member of Phi Beta Sigma sorority for 50 years and cherished her lifelong friendships. Connie is survived by her children, Cathy (Tom) Butts of Columbus; Gini (Bill Pratt) Lentz of Powell; Tom (Elaine Volarich) Lentz of Akron; Sherry Lentz of Douglas, GA; Chris (Therese) Lentz of Columbus, and Mary (Phil Rumme) Lentz of Beavercreek; her eight grandchildren, Karl (Jenn Ferguson), Kurt (Anna Laura) and Kris (Christine) Lentz; Erik, Claire and Quinn Lentz; Emma and Ellie Rumme; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Eli, Cannon Lentz and Brianna Lentz; three step-grandchildren, Adam (Courtney), Michael (Ashley) and Emily Rohrer; special cousins Joan Patzer and Nancy Davis; many nieces, nephews and cousins, both here and in Italy. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, from 4-8 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1652 Oakland Park Avenue, Columbus, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Connie’s family wishes to thank Willow Brook Christian Home for the compassionate care shown to her.
