Forrest John Cassel, age 83, passed away on Friday May 27, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A veteran of the Korean War serving in the Marines, Forrest retired from CSX Railroad after 47 years and continued to stay in touch with his friends by attending the Railroad Retirees group. He is preceded in death by parents, Forrest and Isabell Cassel; brother, Richard. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy (Catalfino) Cassel; children, John (Mary Ann) Cassel, Sr., Michael Cassel, Theresa Pringle and Kris Cassel; grandchildren, John J. Cassel, Jr., Terrance Nixon, Jennifer Cassel, Christopher Cassel, Joey Pringle and Marissa Cassel; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Bullock, Karol Ann Smith, Jody Taylor and Kim Herold; brother, Forrest Russell Cassel, II; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Sunday, June 5, 2016, from 2-6 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus (with a Vigil Service at 5:30 p.m.). Family and friends are asked to meet at the Church of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, 5225 Refugee Rd., Columbus, on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., for his funeral Mass. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne.
