John Francis Flynn, age 81, passed away peacefully February 9, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Flynn; and children Robert (Cheryl) Closson, Gary (Donna) Flynn, Ronald Flynn, Sheri Hamler, Terry Rash, and John E. Flynn. He is also survived by additional family members including, brothers, David D. Flynn and Michael R. Flynn; grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents Edward L. and Emma M. Flynn; brothers, Edward L. Flynn Jr., Robert D. Flynn, William B. Flynn, Joseph H. Flynn, Bernard L. Flynn, Charles M. Flynn and Leo Patrick Flynn; sisters, Mary Ann Erion, Elizabeth F. Flynn, Hilda M. Donahue and Carol A. Coats. Born in Columbus, Ohio, August 26,1933, and a long time resident of Gahanna, Ohio. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Church in Gahanna. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His interests included racing cars and motorcycles, and was an avid Nascar fan and racing mechanic for Bud Walcholz. He retired from Nabisco Co. and is fondly remembered as the "Cookie Man" to many. John was a devoted friend and could always be found comforting and supporting his family and friends who proceeded him in death. He will be laid to Eternal Rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, February 13, 2015 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Avenue, Columbus, Ohio from 5-8 P.M. His funeral Mass will be Saturday February 14, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Matthew's the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Road, Gahanna. All are welcome.
