Dante J. Asmo, age 88, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014, peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 88. Dante was a long time restaurant owner (Yolanda’s Restaurant); a member of the Abruzzi Club, was Catholic Man of the Year, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was devoted to his family, the sick, and Church, Altar Boy for 25 years at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and he was an Avid Card Player. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Diamond (Martinelli) Asmo; wife, Rena (Viol) Asmo, and daughter Julie; brothers, Joe and Wife Gloria, Armond and Wife Betty; sisters, Edith and husband Pat D’Andrea, Martha and Ted Pickens, Yolanda and Frank Savely, Helen and Blupe Jaconetti. Survived by his daughter, Karen and husband, Nick Valentine; grandchildren, Dana, Jimmy, John, Nicky and wife Deanne, Brian, Tony and wife Jennifer, Angela and husband Ben, and Michael; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Trinity, Nia, James, Marcella, Giada, Oliver, Tanner, Aaron, Nicky and Kaelin. Many thanks to Gentiva Hospice who took great care of my father during the past six months. Without them this time would have been more difficult. Friends may call on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus; his funeral Mass to follow at 12:30 p.m., at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 720 Hamlet Street, Columbus.
