Albert Paul DeVendra, age 95, of Columbus, Ohio, died on Monday, October 13, 2014, in Columbus. He was born on May 30, 1919 to Joseph and Josephine DeVendra in Bellaire, Ohio. Albert served in the Army in Europe during World War II earning five Bronze Stars while serving as part of the Invasion of Normandy, day 10. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1944. He retired from a lengthy career from Rockwell/Boeing. Following retirement he tended bar for several years for the Swiss Club and the Maennechor. He was an avid gardner and volunteered for several years at Franklin Park Conservatory. Albert also loved the game of golf and was a member of the OSU Golf Club. The Catholic Church was a very important part of his daily life and he was a very active member of St. Andrew’s Parish for 35 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margherite Howard, Rose DeVendra, Virginia Glasser and Adeline Strussion; and brother, Vincent (Jim) DeVendra. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Cecilia; his sons, Charles (Joni), Dennis (Genia) and John (Elaine); grandsons, Nick (Abbie) DeVendra and Jacob DeVendra; granddaughter, Natalie (Troy Callicoat) DeVendra; sister, Yolanda Wroblewski; and brother, Joseph DeVendra. Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 16, 2014, from 5-8 p.m., at THE JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus.
