George Peter Martina, age 81, of Westerville, OH, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014. George was born November 1, 1932, in Tauriano, Italy. He attended the School of Mosaics in Spilembergo. He perfected his skill and at the age of 23 he was offered an employment contract with Ardit Mosaic Tile in Columbus, OH. George left his mark on the City of Columbus with many award winning mosaics and terrazzo floors including St. Joseph Cathedral, The Ohio Theatre, and The Schottenstein Center. George and a business partner acquired The Ardit Company in 1984. He continued to operate the business until he retired in 2000. George enjoyed family, friends and life. He was a member of the Abruzzi Club and an avid bocce player. He enjoyed hunting and was a seasoned world traveler. The last month of his life he did what he enjoyed most spending time in Italy and taking a Mediterranean cruise with his family. George was a loving husband, father, nonno and brother and he left us all with wonderful memories. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luigi and Eleonora (Cancian) Martina. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Norma (Nance); daughter, Michele (Alex) Johnson; granddaughters, Chelsea and Lauren; brother, Mauro (Anna Maria) Martina of Italy; sisters, Wally D’Agaro of Italy, Emy (Gino) Collovati of Canada and Patriza Martina of France; sister-in-law, Bernita Pfeifer; and many nieces and nephews; and Good traveling buddies, Oscar and Connie DelTedesco. George was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Westerville, OH. Family will receive guests on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8:30 p.m., at THE JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Avenue, Columbus, OH. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul Catholic Church, 313 N. State St., Westerville (OH) with the Rev. Fr. David Gwinner as Celebrant. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO GATHER AT THE CHURCH FOR HIS FUNERAL MASS.
