Philip Ralph Volpe, age 90, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016, at Riverside Hospital. Philip graduated from Central High School and later served in the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Petty Officer, Second Class. He attended the Ohio State University and retired from National Electric Coil after 37 years. He was a lifelong member and Trustee of the S.F.I. (Fraternal Society of Introdaqua), Amici D'Oro choir and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He loved gardening, golfing and bowling, and traveled throughout the U.S. with friends and relatives. He is survived by his dear wife of 63 years, Josephine (Damato) Volpe; sons, James (Julie) and Philip (Beverly); and granddaughters, Laura and Lindsey; and Gina and Francesca; sisters, Norma (Dan) DeFrank and Wilda (John) Terrible and many other dear nieces and nephews and devoted friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Anna Maria (Carifa) Volpe; and sister, Nedda (John) Melaragno. His family will receive friends on Friday January 29, 2016 from 4-8 p.m., at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus. Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel (at St. Joseph Cemetery), 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and a friend to all.
