Obituary

Joseph A. Conie, age 72, passed away on Saturday May 12, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. A graduate of St. Charles Preparatory School, attended OSU, and was a avid Buckeye fan (only missing 5 games since 1950). Joe enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. He was a life time member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, member of the GAC and former member of the Charity Newsies. Joe was also a partner with Conie Construction. He is preceded in death by parents, Jack & Margaret Conie (Wiliams), son-in-law, Scott Lofquist and niece Kristen Conie. Survived by wife Christl Conie(Bernard), with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage in April, daughters; Patricia (Lloyd) Sheets, Cynthia (Shawn) Strader, grandchildren; Karen and Michael Lofquist, Katie and Maddie Sheets and Brooklyn Strader, brothers; Jack (Louise) and Richard (Carol), several nieces,nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank the staff at 5th floor critical care for their kindness to Joe and his family. Friends may call TUESDAY May 15, 2012 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 4:00-8:00 PM with GAC service at 7:00 PM and a Prayer Service at 7:45 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM on WEDNESDAY, May 16 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1559 Roxbury Road, Rev. Msgr. Romano Ciotola, Celebrant and Rev. Msgr. Anthony Missimi, Concelebrant. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO GATHER AT CHURCH FOR HIS FUNERAL MASS. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, OH. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Joe to ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), 1810 MacKensie Drive, Columbus, OH 43220 or Our Lady of Victory Church, 1559 Roxbury Road, Columbus, OH 43212. I was sadden to read that ȁCDukeȁD has passed on. I remember many of the debates over our opinions regarding construction methods, grades and backfill efforts. He was always a pleasure to be around especially when he was in the mood for storytelling.

He will be greatly missed by all.

I didn't know about Joe's passing until I read the paper late last night. I was shocked! Only a couple of weeks ago, we ran into each other at CVS and shared some laughs about old age. He was such a good man, always smiling that beautiful smile of his. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
